Mitt Romney to Millionaires vs Mitt Romney to Faith Leaders
Video Shows Two Faces of Mitt Romney

Washington, DC – A newly released video by the American Values Network (AVN), in partnership with Message Matters,  pits Mitt Romney against Mitt Romney on the responsibility of government to the working poor.  Just last Wednesday, Governor Romney recorded a message for faith leaders involved in the Circle of Protection anti-poverty campaign about government’s responsibility to provide a safety net to the poor.  In a stinging critique of the public and private messages of Governor Romney, the new video juxtaposes this message with the now widely circulated video of Romney saying it’s not his job to worry about seniors, vets, students, and working poor who do not pay federal income taxes.

“Lots of people have disagreed with the Governor’s remarks, but the most stinging critique comes from Mitt Romney,” said AVN President Burns Strider.  “The video speaks for itself.”

From the video:

Governor Romney to his Funders:  ” There are 47% of the people . . . who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them.”

Governor Romney to the Circle of Protection:  “Our government rightfully provides a safety net for the hungry and the homeless, the sick and the elderly and we have a responsibility to keep it intact for future generations.”

Governor Romney to his Funders:  “My job is not to worry about those people.  I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
