Hi, this is Rev. Libby Shannon and this is General Paul Monroe.
Each year, millions of people around the world are threatened by floods, droughts, and famine. The CIA and Pentagon warn that regions destabilized by climate disasters could become breeding grounds for terrorists.

And the Catholic Church, National Association of Evangelicals, and National Council of Churches have all said we have a moral responsibility to help the world’s poor cope with a changing climate. Furthermore, small investments in preparedness now will help prevent future disasters that would cost much more in dollars and human lives.

That is why it’s inexcusable that Congressman Connie Mack is fighting to cut all U.S. funding to build resilience to extreme weather events in poor countries. Please call and tell Congressman Mack that our church and military leaders are right: blocking efforts to help the world’s poor cope with climate disasters is morally bankrupt and makes our nation less safe.
